Many years ago, the pirateship Calypso started sailing on the waters of the Mississippi River around St. Louis. In 2015, Joe and Christie Jung brought Calypso to the Lake of the Ozarks in order to expand the pirate theme of the Grub n' Grog restaurant
Another interesting fact about the Calypso is that its hull is double lined with a foam filling. According to her creator, Captain Tim Woodson, you could fill the boat with water and it would still float due to the buoyancy of the foam. Aboard the ship you can see the original troop transport in the seats and layout. Come aboard and see this transformed piece of history first hand.
The Pirate Ship Calypso is the artistic work of Captain Tim Woodson who converted this historic US Navy troop transport vessel, originally commissioned to the John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier from 1995 to 2007, into the pirate ship you see today. Calypso is a United States Coast Guard Inspected Vessel that is certified to carry up to 44 passengers within the navigable waterways of the Lake of the Ozarks.
